Why Us? Why Now?
Because WE are Changing Lives One Family at a Time!
At Rise Above Excellence Home Care, care is more than a service — it’s a calling. Founded in 2024 by Clarise Shorter-Erkins, Owner and Founder, and CeAira Morgan, Co-Owner, our agency was born from a deep and personal commitment to bring dignity, compassion, and consistency back to home care in Michigan.
Both women come from strong medical and caregiving backgrounds — trained in nursing and Certified Nursing Assistance (CNA), with decades of hands-on experience caring for patients, families, and their own loved ones.
After witnessing both the best and worst of care — from moments of genuine compassion to the cruelty and neglect of irresponsible caregivers — they knew something had to change.
So they built Rise Above Excellence Home Care, headquartered at 11000 W. McNichols, Detroit, Michigan, to do exactly that:
To raise the standard. To restore dignity. To change lives — one family at a time.

Our Story:
Care Rooted in Compassion & Excellence
Clarise and CeAira didn’t just want to create another home care agency —
they wanted to create a movement of accountability and heart.
Having walked in the shoes of both caregivers and family members, they understand the heavy mix of love, fear, and exhaustion that comes with caring for someone at home. They also understand what excellence truly looks like —
reliability, empathy, professionalism, and respect for every individual’s story.
At Rise Above Excellence, care is personal. Every client becomes an extension of our own family, and every staff member is trained to see the human being behind the task list.
We believe that quality home care preserves not only health but also hope —
it protects the independence and identity of those we serve while giving peace of mind to the families who love them.
Raising the Standard of Care in Michigan
In the state of Michigan, home help care services operate under strict performance guidelines set by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
These include maintaining professional training standards, ensuring caregiver competency, and delivering person-centered care that supports independence, safety, and well-being.
At Rise Above Excellence, we not only meet these standards —
we rise above them.
Every team member is thoroughly screened, background-checked,
and trained to meet MDHHS requirements for:
-
Reliability and professional ethics
-
Client-centered care planning
-
Cultural awareness and respect
-
Confidentiality and trust
-
Continuous performance evaluation and improvement
We don’t just fill shifts — we fulfill purpose.
The Need Is Real — and Growing
Home care isn’t a luxury anymore; it’s a lifeline.
-
In Michigan, over 2.3 million residents live with chronic health conditions that limit their daily independence.
-
Nearly 1 in 4 households includes a person providing unpaid care to a loved one.
-
More than 60% of caregivers report feeling emotionally and physically burned out — especially in Southeastern Michigan.
-
Studies show that clients receiving consistent home help services experience 50% fewer hospital readmissions and report a 30% higher quality of life than those in institutional settings.

These numbers reflect what we see every day —
families overwhelmed, individuals isolated, and systems stretched thin.
Our mission is to change that — one visit, one conversation, one act of excellence at a time.
